First Look: Here’s A Single Shoe from Sarah Jessica Parker’s New Line

As mentioned at the end of February, Sarah Jessica is releasing her own show line exclusively in Nordstorm stores. Below you can catch the first look of her show line. Click on the image to make it larger. It is featured in the February 2014 issue of “Lucky” magazine. So be sure to pick up the copy. I’ll hopefully have the scan in the gallery soon.

There has been plenty of buzz in the press concerning Sarah Jessica Parker’s upcoming footwear line, named SJP, but zero images of the shoes. No matter, all is forgiven and forgotten thanks to the first look at the line in the new issue of Lucky. Pictured is a single shoe—as single as Carrie was when Aidan found out she was cheating on him with Big. Zing.

Still, it’s pretty clear from the image that Manolo Blahnik was a huge inspiration. In fact, it looks somewhat similar to those Mary Jane Manolos from the Urban Shoe Myth scene in the Vogue closet. Perhaps that’s to be expected when you partner with George Malkemus, the longtime CEO at Manolo Blahnik, on a footwear project. The full range will land at the end of February in Nordstrom stores and retails for between $200 to $400 $195 to $485 with most prices falling in the $350 to $400 range.

Sarah Jessica Parker Loves “Downton Abbey,” Talks ‘Sex and the City 3’ Movie

“Sex and the City” star Sarah Jessica Parker stopped by the “Watch What Happens Live” clubhouse on Wednesday (Dec. 18), where she talked about her favorite episodes of “SATC” and also her new TV obsession.

First SJP plays a rapid-fire game about “SATC,” where she says she was “very” happy with the way the show ended and that “for sentimental reasons” the boyfriend of Carrie Bradshaw’s she’d like to end up with in real life is Mr. Big.

Parker also names her two favorite “SATC” episodes: The series finale and “Valley of the Twenty-Something Guys,” which we have to second because it has as a guest-star “Justified’s” Timothy Olyphant. Woo woo.

As for her current TV obsession, SJP says, “I just started watching ‘Downton Abbey’ and it’s pretty much the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.”

When it comes to a “Sex and the City 3” movie, SJP says, “I think there’s a story that could be told, but I don’t know that we’ll ever tell it.”

Sarah Jessica Parker Helps Family Impacted By Yonkers Car Crash

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker pitched in this week to help a Yonkers family in need.

As WCBS 880’s Sean Adams reported, when the “Sex and the City” star heard of the fundraising auction for the Gill family in Yonkers, she quietly and graciously offered some of her own belongings.

“We have seven pairs of shoes, all signed,” said Oliver Charles, a cousin to the Gill family. “We have two pretty fancy looking bags.”

On Oct. 11, a runaway car struck and killed Kalie Gill, 15, and seriously injured Lindsey Gill, 13. Two others were also injured in the crash at the Yonkers Fair at Coyne Park.

The Gill family had recently moved to Yonkers from Ireland. Parker, who has a home in County Donegal, Ireland, with husband Matthew Broderick, shops at Charles’ store, the Butcher’s Fancy at 961 McLean Ave. in Yonkers.

“Well I just want to thank you, Sarah Jessica,” Charles said. “You’re really so generous and you’re so nice.”

Next Friday, a charity concert will be held for the family at St. Barnabas Church in Yonkers. A week from Sunday, an auction will be held at Rory Dolan’s restaurant and bar, including tickets to the Super Bowl and the All-Ireland Football and Hurling Finals.

Lindsey Gill needs extensive rehab for her injuries. The goal is to raise enough to cover the hospital bills and rehab and start a college fund, Adams reported.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Blythe Danner to star in Amanda Peet’s new play

Sarah Jessica Parker and Blythe Danner are to star in the world premiere of Amanda Peet’s play “The Commons of Pensacola,” the Manhattan Theatre Club said.

Co-starring Zoe Levin, Ali Marsh, Michael Stahl-David and Nilaja Sun, the show is being directed by MTC’s artistic director Lynne Meadow.

The limited engagement is to begin previews Oct. 22. Opening night is set for Nov. 21 at MTC at New York City Center — Stage I.

“Judith [played by Danner] has been divested of her assets and forced to leave her luxurious New York life after her husband’s Wall Street scam became headline news. When her daughter Becca [played by Parker] and Becca’s filmmaker boyfriend [played by Stahl-David] pay Judith a visit to the one-bedroom condo Judith now occupies in Pensacola, Fla., everyone’s motives are called into question,” a synopsis said. “How will past and present circumstances inform how this family moves into the future?”

Danner and Parker previously starred together in MTC’s 1995 hit production “Sylvia” by A.R. Gurney.

Halston never paid Sarah Jessica Parker

The job titles ‘president’ and ‘chief creative officer’ usually imply hefty wages, but that wasn’t the case when Sarah Jessica Parker acted as both for revived fashion label Halston Heritage from 2010 until 2011.

The Sex And The City actress has revealed that she “really did work for free” for the brand, and that the whole experience was less than enjoyable, admitting that “some cultures can’t be undone.”

“We’ve all worked with complicated people,” Parker tells the September issue of US Harper’s Bazaar . “…and I always think that I can disarm them. I love collaborating. I’m a great listener and learner, and I don’t think I know more than they do. I’m transparent.”

In the same interview, Parker gives a little more insight into her new shoes and accessories line SJP , which will launch in the US in February. So what can we expect? “plenty of low heels, and unusual colour combinations like navy and mocha.”

Grosgrain ribbon will also be a ‘motif’, something her business partner in the brand, Manolo Blahnik CEO George Malkemus, says hasn’t been used in shoe design for a long time and is nostalgic for Parker as it reminds her of picking out hair ribbons with her mother when she was young.

Malkemus also reveals that SJP has a rather un-Hollywood response to new shoes: “She picks them up and smells them.” Which, going by the amount of box-fresh heels she wore throughout her tenure as Carrie Bradshaw, means she must be a serial shoe sniffer.

Behind the scenes with Sarah Jessica Parker and the SM campaign

SHE came, she saw, she conquered the hearts of many Filipinos with her effortless elegance, sparkling wit and charming candor. The recent visit to Manila of Hollywood A-lister and fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker, also known to fans and admirers simply as SJP, kept the Metro abuzz for weeks, resulting in a launch of the landscape’s newest luxe shopping destination and a marketing campaign so unforgettable and impactful, it will be remembered for years to come.

Given the relative secrecy preceding her arrival in time for the SM Aura Premier opening, top management and a small team within the SM Retail group worked quickly and quietly to make arrangements for the advertising, event and publicity requirements for the mall opening and the long-term The SM Store campaign. Working without much fanfare, they were rather amused—and, of course, appalled— at how others brazenly hitched onto the SJP bandwagon and made outrageous claims, much of it in social media.

During her brief stay in Manila, SJP spent a full day working on The SM Store’s “Love to Shop” campaign, which broke out recently in print and broadcast. Befitting her status as fashion icon, SJP’s look for the campaign was pulled together by a glam team she brought along with her.

Here are some behind-the-scene highlights on how photographer Daniela Federici, stylist Tracy Cox, hairstylist Andy Lecompte and makeup artist Leslie Lopez worked together to come up with SJP’s “Love to Shop” look for The SM Store.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Cincinnati this week

Most of us have a favorite teacher, a mentor who inspired us and shared wise words that have remained with us the rest of our lives.

For Sarah Jessica Parker, that teacher was David Blackburn, the former associate artistic director of Cincinnati Ballet, who died on June 15 at the age of 76. He had been treated for several different types of cancer in recent years.

She studied with Blackburn for just four years, from the age of 8 to 12. Rather than pursue a career in dance, though, she went on to a famously successful career in television and film (Carrie Bradshaw in “Sex and the City”) on Broadway (“Once Upon a Mattress”) and as a producer of both television and film (“Work of Art: The Next Great Artist” and “Pretty Old”).
